The Selaulim Dam is built with the composition of earth and masonry materials. The height of the dam is around 42.7 meters and the water within the dam spread across in an area of twenty four square kilometers. When the Dam was first proposed and built, the objective was to provide water supply of around 160 million liters per day for an irrigational area of 14,326 hectares, which is equivalent to 35,400 acres in the South of Goa. However, recently the supply has been increased to three hundred and eighty million liters a day which is also used for industrial and domestic purposes.
