Built in the 2nd century AD, it has a descendent of the Bodi tree under which Siddharta Gautama found enlightenment after 49 days of meditation and became the Buddha or enlightened one. The city of Varanasi on the banks of the Ganges River in Uttar Pradesh, India is the holiest Hindu site. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Golden Temple of Amritsa in Amritsa, Punjab, India was built in 1574. Covered with gold, marble and precious stones, it is the holiest site in Sikhism.
