How to Reach Goa By Road, Railway and Air

There are various ways of reaching Goa. One of the most sought after tourist destinations in India, Goa is a magical land abounding in natural beauty. Its striking beaches, pleasant climate, beautiful churches, trance parties and delicious cuisine allure tourists to visit this small Indian state throughout the year. Goa is nicely connected to all the states in India and people from abroad also find it easy to arrive in Goa due to its well managed transport facility.

India is well connected through public transport. There are various state sponsored buses running across the state well connected to other nearby states. You can board any of these buses from the neighboring states of Goa to arrive in Goa. It does not take much time since buses depart at regular intervals and more frequently. You need to check the timetable before buying tickets and boarding one.
Buses are run by various private companies as well. You will get such buses from Pune, Mumbai, Mangalore and Bangalore. These buses are faster and provide better facilities like air condition and sleeping class. Most of these buses offer reclining seats which are convenient for long journeys. You will also get buses from Margao and Panaji to get back to Mumbai.

Indian Railways also offer excellent service in terms of trains to reach Goa. The Konkan Railway which connects Goa with other states runs trains for tourists to arrive in Goa. It is connected to Mumbai to the north and to the south it is linked to Mangalore. The main station in Goa is Madgao which is located in Margao and daily trains from Mumbai is available for Goa. Train services and ticket prices change occasionally and it is recommended that consult the website before buying tickets to Goa.

You can book tickets online as well as from the respective train stations in the respective states. For sleepers you need to book tickets well in advance otherwise you may not get reservations. The other intrastate stations are Karmali for Panaji, Canacona for Palolem, Thivim for Mapusa, Pernem for Arambol.

Goa can also be reached by aircraft. Arrive at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai and take a domestic flight to Goa. You can also directly fly to the Dabolim International Airport in Goa. Few airlines operate from Russia, Germany and UK to the Dabolim Airport. Be aware of the fact that it is illegal to arrive in India in a scheduled flight and get back in a chartered flight and vice versa. It is better if you do not take this risk. Domestic flights are numerous and you can reach Goa from any of the bigger states in India. You will reach Goa within 45 minutes from Mumbai and the price will be around $150 for a return flight.
